I Wish Religion Were True

I Wish Religion Were True

“I wish religion were true, in the sense that it had some answers that could actually tell me the truth of what life was all about.”

“I understand the emotion that drives religious belief.”

“There is a lack in an atheist viewpoint that doesn’t have deep meaning”

My notes in preparing for this video:

“I wish religion were true…”

It would be reassuring
if there were some kind of god and some kind of plan.

It would be reassuring
to have the comfort of knowing what would happen after death.

It would be reassuring
to know there was a larger meaning to existence.

It would be reassuring
to know we are not alone in the universe.

It would be reassuring
to be sure of something…

There is part of me that wishes it were all true, but I don’t think it is. I wish it were so, but it is not.

The emotional part wants to feel all warm and fuzzy…
the rational part realizes there is no reason to believe.

I am simply living where reason leads me – in this amazing, mysterious world.
So I wrap myself in the unknown, and live one moment at a time.
